CAF validates Augustin Senghor's candidacy

    In a press release published on the CAF website, the committee concluded at the end of its work, that the candidacy of “Augustin Emmanuel Senghor, 55 years old Lawyer and Jacques Bernard Anouma, 65 years old are authorized to appear on the list of candidates eligible for the presidency of CAF ”.

    According to the press release from the CAF governance commission, the candidacies of the president of the Mauritanian Football Federation, Ahmed Yahya and the leader of the Mamelodi Sundowns, Patrice Motsepe, require “additional checks”.

    “Their candidacies were deemed admissible. However, the Commission considered that further verifications are necessary before a final decision can be made.

    “To this end, a hearing of these candidates will be held in Cairo on January 28,” adds the same source, accordingly the outgoing president, Ahmad Ahmad, is however declared ineligible to contest the election.

    It could be recalled that Ahmad was suspended from all football related activities on November 23, by the FIFA Ethics Committee for a 5 year period.
